Please do the following:

1. Launch QuickTimePlayer.
2. Go to ‘Edit’->‘Preferences’->’QuickTime Preferences’->’Audio’ tab and look for ‘Sound Out’ group.
3. For ‘Sound Out’ select 44.1 or 48 Khz, 16 or 24 bits and Stereo (L R).
You should be able to convert this audio now.

My friend gives me his music folder. Why I cannot convert this music on my PC?

The program is not an illegal tool. You cannot convert music which you did not bought.
But you may ask your friend to convert (and unprotect) music. Than copy music to your PC.
